Prabowo: I Want Indonesia to Have a World-Class Digital Government

President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his desire for Indonesia to have a world-class digital government. The wish was conveyed by Prabowo while giving a briefing at the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, Monday (20/7/2026). “Digitalisation of government is something we absolutely must do. We cannot have dozens of applications that do not talk to each other, we cannot ask the people to enter the same data repeatedly, we cannot let the people spend money just to prove that they are poor,” he said. Prabowo then cited a report from the National Economic Council (DEN) which reported that the digitalisation of the social assistance programme (bansos) has been implemented in 43 districts/cities. “Around one million families have been registered out of a target of 12.5 million families. Previously, to manage various documents, a family spent around Rp 150,000. Now the process can be done for free. This is a direct benefit of digitalisation,” said Prabowo. The Chairman of the Gerindra Party said that Indonesia must go further. Social data, education data, health data, and data on aid recipients must be integrated with strong security protection. “We must not let able people receive assistance because their data is not updated, we must not let poor families not receive assistance just because they do not know officials or do not understand the bureaucracy. If our system is accurate, the target of 0% extreme poverty becomes much more possible for us to achieve,” said Prabowo. On the same occasion, the head of state said that the government has presented public service malls in 313 districts/cities, where in one place, the public can access up to 150 types of services. “This is progress. But all possible services must be available digitally. The people do not need to queue for hours, the people do not need to move from office to office. The government must come to the people through technology. I want Indonesia to have a world-class digital government,” said Prabowo.
