Prabowo: I Cannot Tolerate Officials Collaborating with Despicable Businessmen!
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto delivered a fiery speech in front of workers commemorating International Labour Day at Monas on Friday (1/5). In his speech, he reminded officials under his leadership to create policies that defend workers, fishermen, and farmers, not just businessmen. Prabowo warned officials who only work to defend the interests of businessmen who oppress workers. “This is not what I fought for. Not a country robbed by thieves. I cannot tolerate it! I cannot tolerate Indonesian children going hungry. I cannot tolerate mothers unable to provide milk for their children,” Prabowo stated. “I cannot tolerate government officials entrusted by the people instead collaborating with despicable, greedy businessmen,” Prabowo emphasised in his speech. Nevertheless, Prabowo urged workers to view businessmen more maturely. “Not all businessmen are greedy. Many work well, many work hard. We need them for our economy,” Prabowo said. On that occasion, Prabowo again reminded his cabinet aides regarding labour policies. “Brothers and sisters ministers, when making policies, think and ask whether this benefits the Indonesian people? If it benefits the people, implement it. No need to hesitate!” Prabowo reminded his ministers.
