Prabowo: I Am the Second President to Visit Miangas, Mr Jokowi Went Before
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto stated that he has become the second president after the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to visit Miangas, Talaud, North Sulawesi (Sulut).
“We are grateful; I am the second president to have visited Miangas, Mr Jokowi went before,” said Prabowo while meeting with Miangas residents at SMK 2 Talaud on Saturday (9/5/2026).
Prabowo said that President Jokowi had inaugurated the Miangas airport.
Therefore, he wants to maintain the airport and other facilities, including the community health centre.
In addition to the health centre, Prabowo said he would renovate all schools in Indonesia over the next two to three years.
“All schools will also be renovated. This year and over the next two to three years, all schools in Indonesia will be renovated,” he stated.
The visit was carried out by Prabowo after attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines.
Cited from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, Prabowo was seen disembarking from the presidential aircraft with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra and Foreign Minister Sugiono Wijaya.
Prabowo was then welcomed by several ministers, namely Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, and Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid.
Subsequently, Prabowo boarded a vehicle with an Indonesian plate and left Miangas airport.
Foreign Minister Sugiono said that President Prabowo would attend several agendas in Miangas before returning to Jakarta.
“He will return to the homeland today, but before going to Jakarta, he will stop by for several agendas there,” said Sugiono.
