Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that there are still hundreds to thousands of trillions of rupiah in state assets that must be saved from practices of theft and seizure of national wealth. “Today, we have only saved a fraction of the wealth. The struggle is still difficult; there are still hundreds of trillions, even thousands of trillions that we must save,” Prabowo said in his speech at the handover event for the results of asset recovery in the form of administrative fines and state financial recovery amounting to Rp10.27 trillion at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Wednesday. The President said the government is determined to secure and save the state’s wealth wherever it may be. According to him, the state’s control over the land, water, and all natural resources contained therein is mandated by the 1945 Constitution. Prabowo said the efforts to save state assets are being carried out so that the Indonesian people do not continue to live in poverty and suffering due to the country’s wealth flowing out abroad. The Head of State described the struggle to save state assets as an effort to safeguard Indonesia’s future and the next generations. The President also said that society will ultimately determine its stance towards those who defend the people’s interests and those who seize state assets. The people, Prabowo said, witness Indonesia’s wealth being stolen and taken every day, so this condition must be stopped. The government will continue to fight to halt such practices despite facing various risks. “The Indonesian people will determine their stance, and we understand that they are aware; they witness every day how Indonesia’s wealth is stolen and taken away. This must stop. And we will fight hard to end it, with all the risks,” he asserted firmly. The President assessed that the results of the Satgas PKH’s work, which has handed over state financial recovery several times, represent only a small portion of the state wealth that has been secured. According to him, there are still hundreds to thousands of trillions of rupiah in state funds that must be saved. “There will be many questions later, whether it is possible? The answer is not whether it is possible. The answer is that it must be possible. This is not a matter of willingness, not a matter of seeking popularity—no, this is not the Prabowo Government being populist. No. This is a matter of survival for 287 million Indonesians. It is impossible to live well, to live prosperously, if the wealth is taken every day, every week, every month,” said Prabowo.
