Prabowo Hosts Thaksin Shinawatra for Evening Talks on Global and Regional Issues

President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his family on Wednesday evening, 8 July 2026. The meeting, described as warm and informal, served as a platform to exchange views on various strategic issues, including global developments and regional dynamics.

According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the gathering was also a moment to strengthen the long-standing personal friendship between the two leaders. The familial atmosphere was enhanced by the presence of Thaksin’s daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who served as Thailand’s Prime Minister from 2024 to 2025.

Thaksin, who led Thailand from 2001 to 2006, currently holds a role in Indonesia as a member of the advisory board of Danantara.
