Prabowo Hopes Citizens Can Celebrate Eid al-Fitr Joy at the People's Bazaar at Monas

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo Subianto wants as many citizens as possible to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah in an atmosphere of togetherness. This wish is expected to be realised through the organisation of a bazaar and people’s entertainment event held in the National Monument (Monas) area, Jakarta, on Saturday afternoon, 28 March 2026. “Starting from the high enthusiasm of the public during last week’s Lebaran at the Palace, the President wants as many people as possible to share the joy of Lebaran in a warm and full of togetherness atmosphere,” said Teddy in his statement on Saturday, 28 March 2026. Teddy explained that the activity is part of the government’s efforts to bring Lebaran happiness to the wider community, especially Jakarta residents who did not go home or have returned from their hometowns. This is particularly for beneficiary families. The government has prepared 100,000 shopping vouchers for essentials and free goods worth Rp 500,000 per voucher, as well as 300,000 free meals served by around 800 small-scale traders involved in the event. This people’s bazaar also involves traders from various trading centres such as Tanah Abang and Senen, so the event simultaneously encourages economic circulation among the community amid the Lebaran holiday moment. Visitors also have the opportunity to win doorprizes in the form of 1,000 bicycles and 100 electric motorbikes. The festive atmosphere is enhanced with various children’s games and a people’s entertainment stage featuring the music groups Wali and Bagindas. The event, centred at Silang Monas, runs from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. WIB and is open to all levels of society. “This year’s Lebaran is not just about tradition, but about bringing happiness and togetherness for everyone,” he said.
