Prabowo holds state-level Nuzulul Quran ceremony at State Palace attended by 250 guests
Jakarta (ANTARA) — President Prabowo Subianto held the State-Level Commemoration of Nuzulul Quran for the year 1447 Hijriah/2026 at the State Palace on Tuesday evening.
The event, attended by approximately 250 invited guests, commenced at 19:30 WIB, marked by the arrival of guests at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta.
Religious figure and former Religious Affairs Minister M. Quraish Shihab, who arrived at the Presidential Palace complex at 19:00 WIB, stated that the Nuzulul Quran activity was expected to convey a message of peace.
“I am attending Nuzulul Quran this evening so that there may be peace,” he said when asked about his attendance at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta.
President Prabowo, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, was scheduled to arrive at the venue around 20:00 WIB and was to be received by state officials and community leaders in attendance.
The programme commenced with an opening address by the ceremony’s master of ceremonies from the Presidential Palace, followed by the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya.
This was followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran from Surah Al-Hasyr, chanted by M. Zian Fahrezi, winner of the 3rd International Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) Al-Ameed in Karbala, Iraq, in 2026. The recitation was accompanied by poetic interpretation by Velly Syukron of RRI Jakarta.
Subsequently, Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar presented a report on the organisation of this year’s state-level Nuzulul Quran commemoration.
The programme then continued with an exposition on the wisdom of Nuzulul Quran delivered by Islamic scholar and intellectual Muhammad Quraish Shihab, concluding with communal prayer.
The climax of the Nuzulul Quran event was marked by President Prabowo Subianto’s presidential address.
The state-level Nuzulul Quran commemoration was also attended by leaders of state institutions, including MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani, House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani, Regional Representatives Council Chairman Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
Also present were leaders of electoral institutions, namely KPU Chairman Mochammad Afifuddin and Bawaslu Chairman Rahmat Bagja.
In attendance were cabinet ministers and heads of agencies, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto, deputy ministers, Presidential Adviser on Hajj Affairs Muhadjir Effendy, and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
The event was also attended by representatives of Islamic civil organisations, religious leaders, representatives of the Religious Affairs Ministry, and dozens of orphans who were specially invited to participate in this year’s Nuzulul Quran commemoration.
The entire ceremony proceeded solemnly and concluded around 21:00 WIB, after the President and Vice President departed the venue.
