Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto held a one-on-one meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris, France, on Tuesday (14/4) afternoon local time, discussing issues related to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors, as well as exchanging perspectives on global dynamics.

At the Élysée Palace, President Prabowo’s arrival was welcomed by a French guard of honour, who paid respects accompanied by musical instruments from the military band. President Macron, who had been waiting on the terrace of the Élysée Palace, then walked to greet his guest in the courtyard.

The two national leaders embraced and shook hands. On their way into the Élysée Palace, President Prabowo and President Macron engaged in conversation. They proceeded to pose for photographs right in front of the palace entrance, after which Macron escorted Prabowo into the Salon des Portraits room for the one-on-one (tête-à-tête) meeting.

The Indonesian Presidential Secretariat, in its official release confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that the one-on-one meeting between President Prabowo and President Macron served as a strategic forum for the two leaders to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in various priority sectors.

“(The one-on-one meeting, ed.) also (provided an opportunity for the two leaders, ed.) to exchange views on the evolving global dynamics,” read the official release from the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat.

During his official visit to France, President Prabowo was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy, in a separate occasion, explained that the meeting between President Prabowo and President Macron represented an important momentum for Indonesia to convey its strategic perspectives on global dynamics, including potential matters related to the Iran versus United States and Zionist Israel conflict, which is currently entering a ceasefire phase.

“In that meeting, Mr President, in addition to strengthening cooperation with the French Government, will also convey Indonesia’s position in maintaining stability and promoting world peace,” Teddy said.

This visit by the President to Paris is the second time in 2026, following the first on 23 January 2026.

During his previous visit in January, President Prabowo fulfilled an invitation from President Macron. The two met for 2.5 hours at the Élysée Palace, accompanied by a dinner.
