Prabowo Holds Meeting with Military Chiefs on Forest Fires and Dayak Recruitment Requirements
President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with Indonesian Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subianto and the service chiefs. Prabowo discussed a number of matters, including the recruitment of Dayak people who wish to become TNI soldiers.
The meeting was held in Hambalang, West Java, on Saturday (29/8/2026) from afternoon until evening. Also present were Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

“In the meeting, President Prabowo requested updates on several matters, including adjustments to requirements related to the recruitment of interior Dayak people who wish to become TNI soldiers, the handling of several disasters including the post-earthquake situation in Flores, the eruption of Mount Merapi, and the handling of forest and land fires in Indonesia, particularly in Kalimantan and Sumatra,” said Teddy.
Teddy said Prabowo wants Babinsa officers in every village to be educated about the dangers of forest burning, so that forests can be protected together.
The President wants education regarding the dangers of forest burning to be provided by Babinsa officers in villages to residents so that everyone can work together to protect our forests and land.
