Prabowo Holds Meeting with AHY and Danantara into the Night, Discusses This Mega Project
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono revealed the details of a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday (12/5/2026). The meeting, which extended into the night, focused on plans for building sea walls along the northern coast of Java and developing rail networks.
The meeting was also attended by BPI Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, and Head of the Java North Coast Management Authority Didit Herdiawan.
“Among other things, we reported on the concept for developing and protecting the North Coast of Java,” said AHY after the meeting.
AHY stated that the northern coast of Java faces challenges such as land subsidence and tidal flooding due to rising sea levels. Therefore, constructing sea walls is crucial to protect residential areas, industrial centres, and special economic zones.
Additionally, AHY reported on the rehabilitation and reconstruction processes following natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. According to him, the revitalisation is progressing well, including the construction of housing, irrigation, health facilities, and roads and bridges.
“Although there are still several issues that remain challenging on the ground,” he said.
The meeting also addressed the development of the national rail network for Trans Sumatra, Trans Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.
“This is an effort to equalise development across all regions, as railways are not only for passengers but also for transporting logistics or commodities in various areas,” he said.
The Chairman General of the Democrat Party also reported on developments and solutions taken following the accident at Bekasi Timur Station. According to him, there are 76 level crossings in Java to Sumatra that require the construction of underpasses or flyovers.
“Beyond that, we are closing high-risk points and we also want to continue improving the signalling system and modernising other rail systems,” he said.
AHY also reported on several regional road infrastructure developments and irrigation projects to support food security.
