Prabowo Highlights Officials and Apparatus Assisting in Stealing State Funds

President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, highlighted the existence of apparatus and officials in the government who assist parties stealing state funds.

This was stated by Prabowo at the handover event of Rp11.4 trillion in recovered administrative forestry fines by the Satgas PKH at the Kejagung, on Friday (10/4).

“There are among us, we must admit, within our bureaucracy, within our K/L [Ministries/Institutions], within our institutions, there are individuals entrusted with tasks and honour by the state, but who use their authority and power instead to help those stealing from state funds,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo also appreciated the performance of the Satgas PKH, which works to save state finances. According to him, the members of Satgas PKH are people who still have a sense of responsibility to the state and the people.

“Brothers and sisters, since I received the mandate from the people, I have continuously urged and invited, persuasively, with a humane approach as fellow Indonesians, as fellow sons of the archipelago.”

“I invite you, let us close down bad practices, let us stop deceiving the people, deceiving superiors, backing bad practices, smuggling, illegal mining, illegal plantations,” Prabowo added.

He asked officials entrusted with responsibilities to work well. Prabowo emphasised that working in government is a form of devotion.

“We understand, I know your salaries may not be sufficient, but if we look at our people who are worse off than us, we must understand that working for the government is devotion,” said Prabowo.

“Working for the government is devotion. Working for the government in government is devotion. How many times must I emphasise it? Working for the government is sacrifice and devotion,” he added.
