Prabowo Highlights Crucial Role of Police: No Prosperity Without Security
President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that Indonesia is entering a decisive phase in the nation’s journey, during his address at the 80th Bhayangkara Day ceremony at the Brimob Training Centre in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. Amid a global situation filled with uncertainty, tension, and conflict, the government is carrying out major transformations across various sectors, which can only succeed if supported by security stability and legal certainty. Prabowo assessed that Indonesia is now at a ‘historical crossroads’ that will determine the future direction of the nation. According to him, the government is making comprehensive changes to bring Indonesia into a developed and sovereign state. ‘The Indonesian nation is at a historical crossroads. We are carrying out a major transformation in a world full of uncertainty, in a world full of tension and conflict,’ he asserted. He explained that the transformation covers various strategic sectors, ranging from the economy, bureaucracy, and education, to food and energy security. ‘We are carrying out economic transformation, bureaucratic transformation, educational transformation, food transformation, and energy transformation,’ he clarified. According to Prabowo, the entire agenda of change is directed towards realising Indonesia as a modern, prosperous country based on the sovereignty of the people. ‘Our transformation is for Indonesia to become a modern country, a prosperous country with justice, a country that stands on the sovereignty of the people,’ said Prabowo. The President then underlined that all these aspirations would not be achieved without the creation of national stability. He stressed that security, legal certainty, a clean government, and a state apparatus trusted by the public are the main foundations of development. ‘I want to remind us all that there can be no prosperity without stability. There can be no development without security,’ he stated. ‘There can be no economic growth, no investment without legal certainty. There can be no justice without a clean government and a government full of competence,’ Prabowo continued. Prabowo also reminded that public welfare cannot be separated from order and public trust in the state apparatus. ‘There will never be welfare without order, and there can be no strong state without a state apparatus trusted by the people, loyal to the people, and protecting the people,’ he said.
