Prabowo Highlights 21 Months of Achievements in State Address
President Prabowo Subianto outlined a series of achievements, policies, and targets of his administration during the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD on Friday (14/8/2026). The presentation covered economic conditions, food and energy self-sufficiency, the restructuring of state-owned enterprises (BUMN), as well as developments in education, health, and social protection. Prabowo stated that his administration has been running for 21 months, or 663 days, producing 121 transformative policies. He also revealed various figures regarding investment, economic growth, BUMN profits, foreign exchange savings, export supervision, village development, and programmes that directly impact the public.
Regarding the economy, investment throughout 2025 reached Rp1,931 trillion, creating more than 2.7 million jobs. Investment in the first half of 2026 reached Rp1,010 trillion, creating over 1.4 million jobs. The economy grew by 5.61% in the first quarter of 2026 and 5.45% in the first half of the year, which was claimed as the highest first-quarter and first-half growth in 13 years. Prabowo stressed that growth is not the ultimate goal; every investment must generate jobs and improve people’s welfare. The government is also building a Carbon Unit Registry System and a carbon economic value exchange based on international standards.
On food security, Indonesia claimed to have achieved self-sufficiency within one year, faster than the initial target of four to five years. Eight commodities declared self-sufficient are rice, corn, consumer sugar, chicken meat, eggs, shallots, large chillies, and bird’s eye chillies. The government is still pursuing self-sufficiency in garlic, soybeans, beef, and buffalo. For energy, Indonesia reportedly stopped importing diesel as of 1 July 2026, supported by B50 biodiesel production, a policy estimated to save Rp170 trillion or US$9.5 billion in foreign exchange annually.
Prabowo emphasised that BUMN belong to all Indonesian people, not to directors or commissioners, and are not a source of funds for those in power. He noted there were 1,074 BUMN including subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries, many of which were deemed unproductive with excessive layers of management. A total of 290 companies have been closed, with the total number of BUMN targeted to be a maximum of 300 by the end of 2026. The restructuring has resulted in overhead savings of approximately Rp50 trillion per year, with funds redirected to investment, industrialisation, and public services. BUMN profits increased from Rp186 trillion in 2024 to Rp326 trillion in 2025, a growth of 75.3%. Dividends rose from Rp85.5 trillion to Rp142.3 trillion, with net dividends after deducting state capital injections (PMN) increasing from Rp53 trillion to Rp138 trillion. The 2026 dividend is projected to reach Rp200 trillion without additional PMN.
Prabowo also announced that Pegadaian together with Bank Syariah Indonesia manages 153 tonnes of gold worth approximately Rp360 trillion or US$20 billion. The government wants Indonesian gold not only to be mined but also stored, traded, and to provide added value domestically. PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) began operations on 1 June 2026.
