Prabowo Heads to US Accompanied by Bahlil and Teddy to Meet Trump
President Prabowo Subianto and his entourage departed from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Monday (16/2) for a working visit to Washington DC, United States.
Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, according to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat.
Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump to discuss the strengthening of Indonesia-US relations, as well as strategic cooperation across various sectors.
The visit forms part of Indonesia’s active diplomatic efforts to strengthen its national position amidst global geopolitical dynamics.
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to visit the United States on 19 February 2026 to sign a reciprocal trade pact (Agreement on Reciprocal Trade/ART) with President Donald Trump, whilst also attending the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace.
On Sunday (15/2) afternoon, President Prabowo summoned a number of economic ministers to his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, to discuss Indonesia’s strategic direction ahead of economic negotiations with the US.
Two key points were emphasised: firstly, ensuring that every position taken by Indonesia in economic negotiations with any country delivers the greatest benefit to national interests.
Secondly, that the economic cooperation forged should not merely be short-term in nature, but should also strengthen the foundations of national industry.
The President affirmed that every economic policy adopted by the government must yield concrete benefits for Indonesia without delay.
These directives serve as guidance for ministers in formulating strategic measures that are swift, measurable, and have a direct impact on national economic growth.
