Prabowo Heads to East Java for 2026 NU National Conference and Grand Assembly
President Prabowo Subianto departed for East Java Province on Tuesday morning, 23 June 2026. Prabowo and a limited entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at approximately 09.00 WIB. Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to East Java were Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya. The departure this morning was for a working visit. Prabowo’s one-day agenda in East Java includes the inauguration of infrastructure and a national-scale religious event. The Head of State is scheduled to arrive in Sampang Regency, East Java. There, Prabowo will inaugurate a 1,151-kilometre road network spread across Indonesia, part of the implementation of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads. “This inauguration is part of the government’s commitment to accelerating road infrastructure development to improve inter-regional connectivity, encourage regional economic growth, and facilitate the distribution of goods and services,” stated a press release from the Presidential Secretariat. After completing the agenda in Sampang, Prabowo will proceed to Bangkalan Regency. There, Prabowo is scheduled to attend the closing of the 2026 National Conference of Religious Scholars and Grand Assembly of Nahdlatul Ulama, held at the Syaichona Mohammad Cholil Islamic Institute. The event is described as a momentum to strengthen the role of religious scholars in maintaining national unity and contributing ideas to national development. Previously, President Prabowo’s presence at the closing ceremony of the 2026 NU Munas-Konbes in Bangkalan, Madura Island, East Java, was confirmed by the event’s Steering Committee Secretary, Muhammad Nuh. “The closing ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday at approximately 14.00 WIB. Confirmation of the President’s attendance schedule was received by the committee on Monday, 22 June 2026,” Nuh said during a press conference at the Al Falah Mojo Islamic Boarding School in Kediri.
