Prabowo Heads to Britain After Meeting Trump in the US

President Prabowo Subianto travelled to London, United Kingdom, at the start of this week. Before arriving in Britain, Prabowo had just completed a series of visits to the United States, where he met US President Donald Trump in Washington D.C.

According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo arrived in London on Monday, 23 February 2026 local time. The Gerindra Party chairman witnessed the signing of a framework agreement between the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) and Arm Limited, a British semiconductor company, in the British capital.

“The Head of State specifically witnessed the signing as a demonstration of the government’s strong commitment to the prospects of technological advancement and Indonesia’s innovation-based economic transformation,” the Presidential Secretariat statement read on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

The agreement between Danantara and Arm Limited covers chip design technology training for 15,000 Indonesian engineers. The target is for the collaboration to develop the national technology industry.

During his visit to London, Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries cum Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani; Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia; Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. These officials also accompanied Prabowo during his earlier visit to the United States.

With this latest visit, Prabowo has now travelled to Britain twice since the beginning of this year. The Head of State had previously visited London from 18 to 21 January 2026.

During that earlier trip, Prabowo met King Charles III, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and leaders of top British universities. Prabowo also agreed on a number of cooperation deals with the British government and British companies during that visit.

According to the Cabinet Secretariat, Prabowo at that time secured investment commitments worth £4 billion, or approximately Rp 90 trillion, from the United Kingdom. In partnership with British companies, Indonesia established cooperation for the construction of 1,582 fishing vessels to be produced domestically, with job creation expected to reach 600,000 workers.

In addition, Prabowo also explored educational cooperation with 24 leading universities in the United Kingdom, particularly in the fields of medicine and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
