The handover ceremony took place at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Monday (18/06/2026) at 10:00 WIB. Upon arriving at Halim, Prabowo commenced the handover process by unveiling the Air Squadron 12 logo on the front fuselage of the Rafale aircraft. This symbolic unveiling marks the official induction of these defence assets as part of Indonesia’s strategic air power. Following this, Prabowo performed a traditional ceremony involving the sprinkling of flower water on the nose of the Rafale aircraft.

The handover proceedings continued with the symbolic presentation of the aircraft keys by Prabowo to the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Panglima TNI), General Agus Subiyanto. Subsequently, the Commander handed the keys to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (KASAU), Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono.

In addition to the fighter jets, the handover included GCI GM403 radar systems, as well as Meteor Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-to-air missiles and AASM Hammer smart weapons, which are integrated components of the Rafale system. Following the key handover, Prabowo inspected several defence assets at the site, including the Rafale cockpit, the Hammer smart weapons, the Meteor missiles, and the GCI GM403 radar.

Prabowo was accompanied during the ceremony by several high-ranking officials, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Commander of the TNI General Agus Subiyanto, and Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. The aircraft, including the Rafale, are manufactured in France. Indonesia is recorded as a key customer of the French-produced Rafale fighter jets. The Ministry of Defence has committed to procuring a total of 42 Rafale fighter jets from France’s Dassault Aviation, following the activation of the third purchase phase for the final 18 units.
