President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government has set the Hajj cost for 2026 to decrease by Rp 2 million compared to last year. He mentioned that the Hajj cost will still drop despite the rise in avtur prices.

“We ensure that the Hajj cost for 2026 will be reduced by around Rp 2 million even though avtur prices are rising, but we dare to lower the Hajj cost for this year,” said Prabowo during a government working meeting briefing at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

For information, the government and the DPR have agreed on the Hajj Pilgrimage Implementation Cost (BPIH) for 2026 at Rp 87.4 million per pilgrim. This amount is lower compared to the BPIH for 2025, which was Rp 89.4 million.

He stated that the government is committed to protecting the public. He mentioned that the government is also striving to reduce Hajj waiting times.

“We are now fighting, alhamdulillah, I have received a report that the Hajj queue is no longer 48 years. Starting from 2026, the Hajj queue will be at most 26 years and I am fighting to make it even shorter,” he said.

Prabowo also mentioned that Indonesia has obtained land in Mecca for the construction of a Hajj village. He said this is the first time it has happened in history.

“I have proposed and in principle it has been approved, I request permission from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Indonesia to have a special Hajj terminal. So later that terminal will be special for our Hajj so that entry and exit can be faster,” he stated.
