President Prabowo Subianto has stated that he will strengthen audit and law enforcement institutions to prevent and eliminate misappropriation in priority programmes, including the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) initiative. He ensured that all necessary requirements to encourage such strengthening would be met.

The Head of State made these remarks during a speech at the ‘Building Indonesia’s Future Generations Through Nutrition’ event at the Sentul International Convention Centre (SICC), Bogor, West Java. Addressing the heads of various agencies, Prabowo offered full support for the BPKP, KPK, and the Attorney General’s Office, stating that if additional personnel or resources are required, he will provide them.

‘The BPKP, KPK, and all law enforcement agencies must be strengthened,’ Prabowo said, adding that he would even allocate significant funds to the Attorney General’s Office if necessary. He emphasised that this guarantee is driven by his refusal to allow public funds to be stolen by individuals seeking personal gain, asserting that he does not want the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia to be insulted.

Prabowo insisted there would be no exceptions, even for his own appointees, noting the difficulty of taking action against those he has personally promoted. He also expressed gratitude to the thousands of officers working on the MBG programme in remote areas, while simultaneously warning programme managers against the misappropriation of public budgets.

This stance comes amidst recent legal developments where the Attorney General’s Office named the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, and two other former officials as suspects in a corruption case related to the 2025-2026 MBG programme. The Attorney General’s Office conducted searches at several locations prior to the arrests, which have prompted discussions in the DPR regarding leadership changes within the National Nutrition Agency to ensure programme effectiveness.
