Prabowo Greets Pramono: Same 'Bowo', Different Parties
The 2026 Labour Day (May Day) commemoration at the Monas area in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026) became a stage for an interesting moment that cooled the national political atmosphere. Amid thousands of workers filling the location, President Prabowo Subianto showed that workers’ welfare issues can transcend coalition barriers. This occurred when Prabowo began his speech by greeting several officials present at the Labour Day commemoration. Prabowo greeted the leaders of the DPR and MPR. In addition to the institutional leaders, Prabowo also greeted ministers, including the Minister of Manpower Yassierli, who is seen as defending the interests of the working class. “Jakarta Governor, brother Pramono Anung Wibowo, the ‘Bowo’ is the same. Different parties, no problem,” said Prabowo, in a joking tone. Pramono is known to be a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). However, Prabowo stated that even though they are from different parties, they have the same goal of defending workers. “For workers, there are no parties. We all defend the interests of workers,” said Prabowo.
