Prabowo Greets German President at Palace: Guten Tag, Herzlich Willkommen

President Prabowo Subianto received the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. Prabowo greeted Steinmeier in German. “Guten tag, herzlich willkommen,” said Prabowo alongside Steinmeier at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (15/6/2026). In addition to greeting Steinmeier, Prabowo welcomed the delegates accompanying the German head of state. Prabowo considered Steinmeier’s visit an honour. “First of all, I would like to extend a warm welcome and my gratitude to President Steinmeier for his return visit to Indonesia. This is a great honour for us,” said Prabowo. “This state visit carries very significant meaning for Indonesia because it also demonstrates the excellent relations between Germany and Indonesia,” he continued. Furthermore, Prabowo considered Steinmeier’s visit important amidst the current global geopolitical situation. Prabowo promised to strengthen cooperation with Germany during this meeting. “This visit is also an important momentum amidst global dynamics that are increasingly full of uncertainty. Strengthening and ensuring the sustainability of the Indonesia-Germany partnership is certainly a priority,” he added.
