President Prabowo Subianto has reiterated the government’s commitment to providing assistance to communities across even the most remote villages, including isolated areas previously hampered by limited infrastructure.

The President made these remarks whilst inaugurating the completion of 218 bridges across various regions, finished within approximately 2.5 months by a task force led by the Indonesian National Military (TNI). The inauguration was held virtually, inviting all TNI members involved in the bridge construction projects on Monday, 9 March 2026.

“I have tasked the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, a four-star general, with leading the construction of bridges—not only large ones but also small ones. This demonstrates that the government is present at the smallest levels, in villages and hamlets. The Republic of Indonesia’s government will not leave its people in difficulty,” Prabowo explained.

Prabowo acknowledged Indonesia’s location in a disaster-prone region, with numerous active volcanoes. However, he noted that these conditions also bring blessings, as they make Indonesia’s soil fertile and rich in natural resources.

The President also commended the construction of hundreds of bridges completed in a short timeframe. This achievement is regarded as remarkable, demonstrating the dedication of TNI personnel and all parties involved on the ground.

“The inauguration of 218 bridges completed within 2.5 months represents an extraordinary achievement. This accomplishment reflects the sincere commitment of all TNI soldiers, all officials in disaster-affected areas and other regions desperately needing these bridges,” he stated.

The President stressed that his government, together with the Red and White Cabinet, is focused not only on major urban projects but also on small-scale infrastructure that directly impacts communities across remote regions.

“Some may view a crossing spanning just tens of metres as lacking strategic value. The government I lead takes pride in responding to our smallest people, those living furthest away, those in the most remote locations,” he remarked.

According to Prabowo, bridge construction in remote areas holds tremendous significance for the safety and daily life of communities, particularly for school children accessing their right to education.
