President Prabowo Subianto received German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for a state visit at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. Prabowo stated that he and Steinmeier agreed that all conflicts must be resolved through negotiation.

“President Steinmeier and I also agree that all conflicts must be resolved through negotiation and we cooperate in the field of diplomacy to enhance and ensure global peace and stability,” Prabowo said at the Merdeka Palace on Monday (15/6/2026).

Prabowo expressed confidence that Germany will play a more active role as a partner in Europe. He considered the meeting with Steinmeier to be important for Indonesia.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I firmly believe that Germany must play a more active and more important role because we need a good partnership with Germany and with Europe. The German President’s visit this time is a sign that this relationship is very important,” Prabowo stated.

He said Steinmeier’s visit was also an important momentum amidst global dynamics. He noted the visit demonstrated the good relations between Indonesia and Germany.

“This is a great honour for us. This state visit holds very important meaning for Indonesia because it also shows the excellent relationship between Germany and Indonesia,” Prabowo said.

“This visit is also an important momentum amidst global dynamics that are increasingly full of uncertainty,” he stressed.
