Prabowo: Geopolitical Situation is Highly Volatile, War is Breaking Out Everywhere

President Prabowo Subianto has once again issued a warning regarding the global situation, which is fraught with uncertainty due to ongoing warfare. This warning was delivered by Prabowo during a meeting with members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) from both central and regional levels at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday (31/07/2026).

“During our first meetings at the beginning of my administration, when you came to me, I already warned you to be careful about the global situation. The geopolitical situation is extremely, extremely volatile. War is happening everywhere. It is devastating,” he said.

According to Prabowo, a major war is occurring in Europe, specifically in Ukraine. He noted that the duration of this conflict has already exceeded that of World War I and may potentially last longer than World War II.

“World War II began in September 1939 and ended in mid-May 1945. That was five years or four and a half years. The Ukraine war began in 2022. We have gone through 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and have now entered 2026. The Ukraine war might even last longer than World War II. Millions have already fallen victim,” Prabowo stated.

The Chairman of the Gerindra Party added that war in one part of the world has far-reaching consequences, impacting food prices, fuel prices, and other essential commodities.

Prabowo noted that while the war in Ukraine remains unresolved, the situation in Gaza, Lebanon, and the wider Middle East has escalated even further. “In the Gulf region, the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran, the situation remains unresolved and is likely to persist for quite some time. Furthermore, we cannot underestimate the danger of nuclear war, both in Ukraine and the Middle East,” he said.

He also pointed out that conflict is occurring within the ASEAN region, which is traditionally considered a zone of peace. In Myanmar, a civil war is raging involving armed militias supported by other nations. “Our friends, Thailand and Cambodia, are also experiencing battles fraught with tension. We continue to support peace efforts and address tensions in other regions,” Prabowo concluded.
