The government faces a policy dilemma with no truly comfortable options.

President Prabowo Subianto gathered high-ranking officials from ministries and agencies in a large forum at the Palace on Wednesday (8/4). Not only ministers and agency heads, the meeting also involved all echelon one officials.

Head of the Government Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo described the step as an effort to unify understanding at the policymaker level.

“Today there will be an event at the Palace around noon at 14.00 WIB. The President is gathering all ministries and agencies, not just ministers, deputy ministers, agency heads, deputy agency heads, or heads of bureaus and their deputies, but also all echelon ones,” he told reporters.

According to Angga, involving echelon one is considered important because they are the main link between leadership policies and field implementation. The President wants to ensure that strategic messages do not stop at the ministerial level.

“The President feels it is important to convey directly to all echelon ones because we are all a unity. In a ministry, there is a minister supported by echelon ones and their subordinates,” he explained.

The main agenda of the meeting is said to relate to the direction of government policy and the current conditions facing the country. However, the details of the material to be presented have not been disclosed openly.

“The President will certainly deliver briefings on strategic matters, about government policy, state administration, updates on the current situation,” said Angga.

When asked if this meeting is related to global geopolitical dynamics, Angga did not deny that strategic issues will be part of the discussion, although he did not elaborate further.

“Yes, certainly strategic matters will be conveyed by the President. So, we’ll wait after the event,” Angga concluded.
