Prabowo gathers military leaders to review strategic programs
Accompanying him at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday were Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Chief Muhammad Herindra, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Wijaya said in a statement that the forum also brought together Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohammad Tony Harjono.
He confirmed that the president received updates on various strategic programs assigned to TNI to help realize equitable development and improve living standards nationwide.
The army chief, he said, briefed the head of state on progress in an electrification program in Papua, which has reached more than 200 villages, mostly in high-altitude regions.
He added that the commander also highlighted the Garuda Suspension Bridge program, targeting enhanced connectivity between rural areas, with nearly 2,000 locations already covered.
Shifting to clean water accessibility, Wijaya quoted General Simanjuntak as saying that the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) had installed pipe networks and drilled wells across roughly 2,000 places, delivering benefits to around one million residents nationwide.
The general also assured President Prabowo of personnel welfare, he added, noting that various programs are being implemented to improve the living standards of TNI AD soldiers while maintaining their readiness to carry out core defense duties.
“Through these various programs, TNI continues to contribute to efforts aimed at realizing equitable development, boosting connectivity between regions, and meeting the basic needs of residents down to remote places,” Wijaya concluded.
