Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto convened a number of ministers overseeing the economic sector in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (15/2/2026). The meeting was held to affirm that every international economic negotiation must prioritise national interests.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the President emphasised the importance of ensuring Indonesia’s position in various global economic negotiations, particularly with the United States, delivers maximum benefit for the national economy.

“The President affirmed several points, ensuring that the position Indonesia takes in every economic negotiation with any party, particularly in the near term with the United States, is the best and most advantageous for Indonesia,” Teddy said, as quoted from the official Instagram account of the Cabinet Secretariat on Sunday.

According to Teddy, the President wants every economic negotiation to drive increased domestic industrial productivity whilst strengthening the national industrial supply chain within the global ecosystem. Furthermore, the President gave particular attention to the speed of policy implementation and the tangible impact that can be felt directly by the public.

“The President wants every policy adopted to immediately and as much as possible deliver concrete benefits for Indonesia,” he said.

Ministers present at the meeting included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.

Previously, Airlangga revealed that President Prabowo is scheduled to sign an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) with the United States this month. The agreement is planned to be signed when the President attends an official engagement in the United States on 19 February 2026.

“It was conveyed that the President plans to attend an event on the 19th, and around that date there will also be a plan to sign the ART, Agreement on Reciprocal Tariff,” Airlangga said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (11/2/2026).

However, the government is still awaiting the final draft regarding the detailed figures of the agreement before the official signing takes place.

On 22 July 2025, the Indonesian and United States governments agreed on a joint statement regarding the ART framework. Under this framework, the United States committed to reducing import tariffs on Indonesian products from 32 per cent to 19 per cent. The agreement is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the global market, whilst strengthening Indonesia’s position in international trade chains.
