President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with the board of directors and commissioners of the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara), namely BRI, BNI, Bank Mandiri, BTN, and BSI, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (18/6/2026). The gathering marked the first time an Indonesian president has fully assembled the leadership of Himbara member banks, from chief executive officers and directors to commissioners, totalling 100 people. In his directive, the President emphasised that Himbara should not be viewed solely as a business entity. With a combined market capitalisation of approximately Rp1,100 trillion, or around 10 per cent of the value of all national companies, Himbara bears a significant responsibility to help advance the national economy and improve public welfare. The President also underscored the importance of Himbara’s role in broadening economic access and opportunities for all levels of society, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as supporting various government priority programmes. Nevertheless, all Himbara banks were reminded to continue carrying out their roles and business processes professionally, maintain good governance, and uphold the principle of prudence.
