Prabowo Furious at Elites Stealing People's Money, Takes Aim at Greedy Businessmen!
President Prabowo Subianto attended the peak of International Labour Day commemorations at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1 May 2026). In his speech, Prabowo sharply criticised the practice of stealing public funds and greedy businessmen. “I have staked my life multiple times for this nation. But I see many elites stealing the people’s money. This is not what I fought for. Not a country robbed by thieves; I cannot accept that,” he stated in a raised tone. He professed his unwillingness to see Indonesian children go hungry. Prabowo also could not bear the thought of mothers unable to buy milk for their children. “I cannot accept government officials, entrusted by the people, instead colluding with despicable businessmen, with greedy businessmen,” he said. “Brothers and sisters, but I invite us to be mature; not all businessmen are greedy. Many work well. We need them so the economy thrives; we shouldn’t hate the rich. But if their wealth comes from robbing…,” he continued.
