Prabowo: Free Meals, Social Aid, and Downstreaming Benefits Now Being Felt

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the downstreaming programme and the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) initiative are now underway and their benefits are beginning to be felt by the public, moving beyond mere promises. He made the remarks during his state address at the Annual Session and Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Friday (14/8/2026). “The promise of Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), social assistance, and downstreaming is no longer just a plan on paper; everything is running and the people are beginning to feel the benefits,” Prabowo said at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta. Despite the progress, Prabowo urged against complacency, noting that many people still require these programmes. “This is not a reason for us to be complacent; it is a stimulus for us to work even harder, because we realise that independence is not what we proclaim, independence is what the people feel,” he asserted.
