Prabowo: Foreign parties impressed with Indonesia's Danantara
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto stated that foreign parties have expressed admiration for the existence of Indonesia’s State-Owned Investment Management Body (BPI) Danantara and the quality of the human resources that manage it.
“Everyone I hear from abroad, when they meet colleagues from Danantara, they are impressed. They are surprised, they see a different face of Indonesia,” Prabowo said whilst addressing remarks at Danantara’s first anniversary celebration in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The President indicated that these foreign parties were astonished upon meeting Danantara representatives because they witnessed a face of Indonesia possessing capabilities in business, economics, investment, and value-added processing.
According to the President, these impressions were conveyed directly to him by various foreign parties after interacting with the Danantara team.
Prabowo expressed gratitude that Indonesia now possesses an institution comparable to other sovereign wealth funds in the world.
“We are grateful that we now have an institution that can be equated with sovereign wealth funds globally. We are grateful that Indonesia now has a sovereign wealth fund that is perhaps the sixth or seventh largest in the world,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo reported that documents he had received demonstrated improved performance in the institution’s management. Return on assets in 2025 reportedly increased more than 300 per cent compared to previous years.
The Head of State stated that this increase resulted from effective management and the presence of strong will and policy support in operating the institution.
“We are also grateful that the management in this one year has proven that with good management, with proper administration, especially with the correct will, with political will, with the correct spirit, results are already visible,” the President said.
Prabowo also reminded BPI Danantara to remain vigilant and maintain integrity in managing funds that he described as wealth for future generations.
The President emphasised that many sovereign wealth funds in various countries, including wealthy nations, have suffered losses due to poor management.
Danantara’s existence serves as evidence that Indonesia, with strong determination, is capable of taking major steps and endeavouring to match the achievements of other nations.
“Danantara is also proof that Indonesia, with determination, with firm will, is capable of accomplishing great things, capable of following and matching the achievements of other countries,” Prabowo said.
