Prabowo: For the First Time in History, Indonesia Has Danantara with Assets Exceeding USD 1,000 Billion

Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto has expressed pride that Indonesia has, for the first time in its history, established an institution managing the nation’s sovereignty, namely Danantara.

Prabowo made the remarks during a Plenary Cabinet Session at the Merdeka Palace on Monday, 20 July 2026.

“One of our achievements that I believe will be remembered by history is that for the first time in the history of the Indonesian nation, we have succeeded in building a sovereign wealth fund that we call Danantara,” Prabowo said.

He explained that Danantara is an institution that brings state funds and wealth together into one. Going forward, Prabowo continued, these funds could be used for the future of the nation.

“Danantara is a sovereign wealth fund where the nation’s savings and wealth are unified, consolidated and managed in an orderly fashion, and this becomes a reserve, becomes energy for Indonesia’s future, for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren,” Prabowo said.

“And, thank God, for the first time in history we have this Danantara with assets valued at more than 1,000 billion dollars,” he continued.

It is known that Danantara is currently handling 26 downstreaming projects with a total investment value of Rp 225 trillion, projected to absorb up to 37,833 workers.

The projects are being carried out in two phases. Phase I, which began with a groundbreaking on 6 February 2026, covers six priority projects across 13 locations with an investment value of Rp 109 trillion and the potential to absorb 11,456 workers.

Meanwhile, Phase II, which began with a groundbreaking on 29 April 2026, comprises 10 priority projects across 13 locations with an investment value of Rp 116 trillion and is estimated to absorb 26,377 workers.

The 26 projects cover a range of strategic commodities, beginning with the mining sector, such as the construction of aluminium, stainless steel and copper smelters.

There are also projects from the energy and food sectors, including the development of bio-aviation fuel facilities, bioethanol, palm oil processing, the coconut industry, and integrated chicken farming.
