Prabowo: For the First Time in History, Indonesia Has Danantara with Assets Exceeding USD 1,000 Billion

President Prabowo Subianto expressed pride that Indonesia, for the first time in its history, possesses an institution managing the nation’s sovereign wealth, known as Danantara. The President made these remarks during a Plenary Cabinet Session at Merdeka Palace on Monday, 20 July 2026. “One of our achievements that I believe will be remembered by history is that for the first time in the history of the Indonesian nation, we have succeeded in building a sovereign wealth fund which we call Danantara,” said Prabowo. He explained that Danantara is an institution that consolidates state funds and wealth into a single entity. Prabowo added that these funds can be utilised for the nation’s future. “Danantara is a sovereign wealth fund where national savings and wealth are consolidated and managed neatly, serving as a reserve and energy for Indonesia’s future, for our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,” Prabowo stated. “And alhamdulillah, for the first time in history, we have Danantara with an asset value exceeding USD 1,000 billion,” he continued. A total of 26 downstream projects with a combined investment value of Rp 225 trillion are currently being undertaken by Danantara and are projected to absorb up to 37,833 workers. The project implementation is being carried out in two phases. Phase I, which commenced with a groundbreaking on 6 February 2026, includes six priority projects across 13 locations with an investment value of Rp 109 trillion and the potential to absorb 11,456 workers. Phase II, which began with a groundbreaking on 29 April 2026, covers 10 priority projects in 13 locations with an investment value of Rp 116 trillion and is estimated to absorb 26,377 workers. The 26 projects encompass various strategic commodities, ranging from the mining sector, such as the construction of aluminium, stainless steel, and copper smelters, to the energy and food sectors through the development of bioavtur, bioethanol, palm oil processing, coconut industry, and integrated chicken farming facilities.
