Prabowo Flies to Russia, Set to Meet Putin Today

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto officially departed for Moscow, Russian Federation, on Sunday evening to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector and oil supplies.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated in a written release that President Prabowo is heading to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Just before midnight on Sunday, 12 April 2026, President Prabowo Subianto departed for Moscow, Russia,” said Teddy, quoting the official statement, on Monday (13/4/2026).

The journey to Moscow takes approximately 12 hours of non-stop flight using the national carrier Garuda Indonesia, with an estimated arrival on Monday morning local time.

“President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the afternoon,” explained Cabinet Secretary Teddy.

According to Teddy, the meeting between the two leaders is crucial amid global dynamics.

In the meeting agenda, Teddy conveyed that the two leaders will discuss several strategic issues, including strengthening national energy resilience through continued cooperation with the Russian government.

“Continuing cooperation with the Russian government and ensuring stable national energy supplies, including oil availability,” he said.

In addition, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy, the two heads of state will also exchange views on global geopolitical developments.

“Voicing Indonesia’s strategic position in maintaining global stability and peace.”
