Prabowo Flies to Japan to Meet Emperor Naruhito

President Prabowo Subianto began his visit to Japan with an agenda to meet government leaders. The visit also includes a direct meeting with Emperor Naruhito. The head of state departed from TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma Base, Jakarta, on Sunday (29/3) with a limited entourage. The departure was seen off by several high-ranking officials, including Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the meeting with the Japanese Emperor is one of the main agendas of this visit. “One of them is that President Prabowo will make a state call to Japanese Emperor Naruhito,” he said, quoted from a press release. In addition, Prabowo is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at Akasaka Palace, Tokyo. This meeting is projected to be a forum for discussing concrete cooperation in several strategic sectors. “There are several cooperations in the fields of investment, energy, maritime, and digital,” said Teddy. These agendas, continued Teddy, show that this visit is not only ceremonial but also oriented towards strengthening economic and technological relations between the two countries.
