Prabowo: Fertiliser Prices Drop 20%, a First in Indonesian History

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has asserted that his administration has succeeded in reducing fertiliser prices by up to 20%. This is attributed to his policy of resolving the issue of 145 regulations.

Prabowo stated that regarding food, the food supply for the Indonesian people is in a secure condition. Indonesia is considered capable of facing challenges, including the El Niño phenomenon this year, which is expected to be particularly severe.

“We have achieved that, with courage the problem of 145 regulations on fertiliser distribution has been eliminated, fertiliser prices have been successfully reduced by 20% — this has happened for the first time in the history of the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia, the first time fertiliser prices have been reduced for the people, but at the same time prices have fallen while the volume of fertiliser availability has increased for our people,” Prabowo explained during the Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD in the framework of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Nusantara Building, Senayan Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta, Friday (14/8/2026).

Therefore, Prabowo is confident that the Indonesian people now find it easier to obtain fertiliser due to increased production.

“Because of that, we will achieve food self-sufficiency more quickly, and at the same time the profit of PT Pupuk Indonesia, a state-owned enterprise, has increased by 252.8%. Fertiliser prices have fallen, volume has increased, but the profit for PT Pupuk Indonesia has risen,” Prabowo asserted.
