Prabowo Feels Supported by Workers Throughout His Political Journey
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto feels that he has always been supported by workers throughout his political journey until he was elected as head of state. “This is an honour for me, thank you. I feel that workers have always supported me several times, and I feel that I became president because of the support of workers, farmers, fishermen, and all workers in Indonesia,” Prabowo stated at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). He spoke during the speech commemorating International Labour Day or May Day 2026. Prabowo expressed thanks for the invitation to join the workers. According to him, this is the main task of the government he leads. One of them is designating Marsinah as a national hero. In addition, he revealed plans to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum in Glundo Village, Nganjuk, East Java, as a form of respect for the workers’ struggle. On that occasion, Prabowo also reported the ratification of the Domestic Workers Protection Act (UU PPRT). “The UU PPRT has never existed before; until now, domestic workers, whatever their wages, unclear. Now, for the first time in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, we ratify the UU PPRT,” he explained. Thus, he considers workers who rely on their strength and sweat as noble figures.
