Prabowo Feels a Kinship with Hipmi: 'I Know All Their Antics'

President Prabowo Subianto has claimed a close relationship with the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi), stating he has long been familiar with the character of its leading figures. “That is why it genuinely seems that Hipmi and I have been somewhat compatible from the start. Because I know almost all of Hipmi’s leading figures,” Prabowo said during Hipmi’s 18th National Conference (Munas) in Lampung on Wednesday (10/6/2026). Prabowo understands the character and behaviour of Hipmi’s leaders. He therefore reminded the association’s members not to try anything untoward. “I know all of your antics as well. So don’t try anything funny, I already know all your behaviour, I even know your mannerisms,” Prabowo stated. The 18th Hipmi National Conference is being held on 10-11 June 2026 at the Novotel in Bandar Lampung, carrying the theme “Synergy of Young Entrepreneurs to Build National Economic Strength”. The event was attended by more than 2,000 participants, including members of the Red and White Cabinet, Hipmi functionaries, and former Hipmi Chairmen. The forum is being held to make the highest decision in electing the Chairman of the BPP Hipmi for the 2026-2029 period, to ratify changes to the articles of association, and to formulate strategic steps for the development of national entrepreneurship. There are four candidates standing for the Hipmi chairmanship: Reynaldo Bryan, Ade Jona Prasetyo, Afi Kalla, and Anthony Leong.
