Prabowo Extends Easter Greetings to Putin

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended Orthodox Easter greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow on Monday (13/4/2026). According to him, the Russian people had just celebrated their important day on 12 April 2026. “I am grateful to have been received in such a short time. I also extend congratulations that Your Excellency, and the entire Russian people, have just honoured this important day, Easter,” said Prabowo, in a Setpres YouTube account video on Monday. “We are very pleased to hear the Easter greetings, especially from the head of state with the largest Muslim population in the world,” said Putin. Putin stated that in Russia, not only Easter is celebrated, but followers of other religions can also celebrate their respective holidays. “Our country is a multi-confessional state and we, together with our brothers who adhere to other religions, continue to celebrate all religious holidays,” said Putin through an interpreter. On that occasion, Prabowo also extended Cosmonaut Day greetings to Putin. It was on 12 April 1961 that Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to fly into outer space. “Many Indonesians are named Gagarin, named Yuri, many,” added Prabowo.
