President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his condolences over the deaths of police officers during a counter-narcotics operation in Central Kalimantan. He stated that the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty were victims in the nation’s effort to eradicate drug trafficking.

The statement was made by Prabowo during a speech at the B50 Biodiesel launch event in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday (9/7). During the occasion, he addressed the tragedy that occurred while officers were taking action against drug activity in Kalimantan.

Prabowo noted that the bravery of officers in confronting drug networks carries significant risk, as they face parties believed to have a vested interest in maintaining the illegal activities. “I also extend my condolences to the police force, whose members fell while conducting a clean-up in a village in Kalimantan. They lost their lives, possibly to those protecting or involved in the production or distribution of narcotics,” Prabowo said.

The incident Prabowo referred to took place during a police raid on a suspected drug network in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The operation resulted in police casualties following a clash during the enforcement action against suspected drug offenders.

Three members of the Katingan Police died in the operation to eradicate drug trafficking in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Katingan Tengah District, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The fallen officers were First Inspector (Posthumous) Sumariyanto, Chief Police Brigadier (Posthumous) Yudhie Perdana Putra, and Police Brigadier (Posthumous) Nopandri Ramadhana.
