President Prabowo Subianto has conveyed deep condolences over the deaths of three Indonesian National Army (TNI) soldiers while carrying out their duties in the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL), in the Middle East.

Prabowo extended his sympathies to the families of the soldiers and paid tribute to their dedication and sacrifice in serving the nation.

“Innalillahi waina ilaihi rajiun, I share in the grief over the passing of Captain Inf. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Private Farizal Rhomadon while carrying out the peacekeeping mission in the Middle East,” Prabowo stated via an Instagram story on the official @prabowo account on Tuesday (31/3).

Prabowo emphasised that the soldiers’ service represents dedication and bravery in maintaining world peace. The soldiers also uphold Indonesia’s good name on the international stage.

The three TNI soldiers, who were part of the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, were killed in what is strongly suspected to be an attack launched by Israel. Condemnations of Israel have come from within the country and the international community.

Condemnations have come from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) Dave Laksono stressed that the government and TNI must immediately conduct a total evaluation of the deployment of troops in the world peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

“I continue to call for a thorough evaluation, a re-evaluation of our soldiers’ presence there,” Dave said at the parliamentary complex on Tuesday (31/3).

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement on social media platform X, described the incident that killed the three TNI soldiers as a heinous attack that cannot be accepted.

“The Government of the Republic of Indonesia strongly condemns the second attack that occurred consecutively near Bani Haiyyan, southern Lebanon, on 30 March 2026, which targeted Indonesian peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), resulting in the deaths of two more personnel and injuries to two others,” read the statement from the Indonesian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday (31/3).

Indonesia emphasised that this attack cannot be viewed as an isolated incident, but rather reflects the increasingly deteriorating security situation in southern Lebanon, “where ongoing Israeli military operations have placed UN peacekeepers at very serious risk.”

“Indonesia continues to strongly condemn Israel’s attacks in southern Lebanon, which have significantly increased the risks faced by UN peacekeepers and undermined the implementation of UNIFIL’s mandate as set out in Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006),” added the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.

The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the series of attacks in Lebanon that resulted in the deaths of Indonesian peacekeeping personnel in the UNIFIL mission over two consecutive days.

Indonesia has called for the investigation to be conducted promptly, transparently, and thoroughly to uncover the facts and determine those responsible for the incident.

“Indonesia calls for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation to uncover the facts, including the chronology of events and those responsible, and emphasises that full accountability must be upheld,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via its X account, quoted on Tuesday (31/3).
