Prabowo expresses condolences for KM Virgo victims

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his condolences to the victims and families of the KM Virgo ship accident in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.

During the inauguration of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT line at Manggarai Station, Jakarta, on Wednesday, President Prabowo stated that the government continues to pray for the families of the victims, wishing them strength and fortitude in facing this tragedy.

“On this occasion, we certainly always remember our brothers and sisters who have experienced misfortune, most recently the Virgo ship in Banjarmasin. We always pray that the families left behind are granted fortitude and steadfastness,” said President Prabrot, as monitored online via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

He emphasised that the government will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the KM Virgo accident.

“We will continue to investigate and examine the cause and the occurrence of this event so that in the future, we can better mitigate risks and take the best possible steps,” he said.

In addition to the KM Virgo accident, President Prabowo also expressed his concern for communities in various regions still facing difficulties due to natural disasters.

President Prabowo ensured that the central and regional governments, along with all relevant agencies, continue to work together in addressing the various challenges and hardships faced by the public.

“Many of our brothers and sisters in various places are still experiencing difficulties due to natural disasters. However, all levels of government—central, regional, provincial, and regency—and all agencies have proven to be working well together to face all challenges and difficulties,” he added.
