President Prabowo Subianto expressed his concern over the situation in the West Bank, Palestine. According to Prabowo, the conditions there could affect efforts to resolve the war between Israel and Palestine.

Prabowo made these remarks during his meeting with the King of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, at the Basman Palace in Amman, Jordan.

The Head of State stated that the dynamics in the region have the potential to disrupt efforts to create stability in Palestinian territory.

“We are very concerned about the problems in the West Bank. We believe that this could affect the success of anything we try to do in Gaza,” Prabowo said in Jordan on Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2026.

The resolution of the conflict in Palestine, according to the former Minister of Defence, cannot be separated from the coordination of countries close to the Palestinian region. Therefore, Prabowo encouraged strengthening cooperation with Jordan. This is because Jordan is the region closest to Palestine, as it borders directly with the West Bank.

“We hope we can have close cooperation because you (King Abdullah II) are the party closest to the Gaza issue,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia will strengthen and enhance cooperation with Jordan. “I think my team will work closely with your team, so that we always monitor the situation, we know exactly what will happen,” he said.

A number of Israeli Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have expressed concern over the newly signed plan to expand settlements. According to them, this step will mark the first expansion of the border from East Jerusalem to the occupied West Bank since 1967.

Israel has occupied East Jerusalem since 1967 and claims it as its own, although this step is rejected by the international community.

Palestine has designated the East Jerusalem area as the centre of their future government.

As reported by CNA, the proposal was published in early February but reported by Israeli media on Monday, February 17. This decision comes amid global criticism of Israel’s gradual efforts to gain control over the West Bank.

Critics call this unilateral move a form of de facto annexation of Palestinian territory by Israel.
