President Prabowo Subianto said Kebumen holds a special connection for him because his late father, Soemitro Djojohadikoesoemo, was born there, during a panen raya udang at a shrimp farming complex in Kebumen that was watched online from Jakarta on Saturday. He recalled nostalgically that Kebumen once had a sugar factory that has since been converted into a hotel. He also praised the shrimp ponds for employing 650 people from the surrounding area. The president noted that the government is building several production zones for fisheries commodities, including an integrated shrimp farming project in Waingapu, East Nusa Tenggara, and fish ponds in West Java. “From now on we will add, we will build productive projects that generate protein for our people and for export to earn foreign exchange,” he said. At the event, the president was accompanied by members of the Merah Putih Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, the head of the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Agency (BUMN) and Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Dony Oskaria, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
