Prabowo Explains the Significance of 1,061 Desa Merah Putih Cooperatives During Inauguration

Prabowo inaugurated the operational launch of 1,061 Desa Merah Putih cooperatives in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday, 16 May 2026. During the inauguration, Prabowo stated that he had a story to share regarding the number 1,061.

“Today, we are inaugurating the operational launch of 1,061 cooperatives. I will explain the significance of the number 1,061,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo explained that initially, the plan was to inaugurate 1,300 cooperatives. However, due to various reasons, Prabowo eventually requested that only 1,000 cooperatives be launched.

“So, initially, we were going to launch 1,300 cooperatives, but it seemed like some people were in a hurry, and others were looking for something. In the end, I thought 1,000 would be enough,” he said.

After that, Prabowo revealed that a suggestion came from the Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, who remembered that he liked the number ‘8’. Prabowo then explained the connection between the number 1,061 and the number ‘8’.

“Then, the Director of Agrinas Pangan remembered that I like the number 8. So, he said, ‘Why not just launch 1,061 cooperatives? If you add 1 and 6, you get 7, and then add 1, you get 8.’ So, Indonesians like to find connections, but it’s just a way to boost our spirits,” he said.
