President Prabowo Subianto explained his reasons for directly meeting and providing guidance to 503 DPRD chairmen from across Indonesia, who were attending a retreat at the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday, 18 April 2026. In his opening remarks, Prabowo assessed that the briefing for DPRD chairmen nationwide today was an important event, so he believed he must deliver the guidance personally. “After I learned that all DPRD chairmen from across Indonesia are here, I consider it important and appropriate for me to attend in person,” Prabowo said on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Saturday, 18 April 2026. Prabowo also referred to the DPRD chairmen across Indonesia and the state officials present at the retreat as “national patriots”. Therefore, the President said he wanted to speak not only as the Head of State, but also as fellow children of the nation. “As children of the nation, today I want to speak heart to heart, I want to speak plainly,” Prabowo stated. After giving the introduction, President Prabowo instructed that the core briefing session proceed behind closed doors. In the briefing event, President Prabowo first listened to a report from the Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) of the Republic of Indonesia, TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily. Ace explained that the retreat at Akmil was a leadership enhancement course for regional leaders (KPPD), which is a routine Lemhannas agenda. This year, the KPPD was held centrally at Akmil, Magelang, with the theme “Strengthening the Role of Provincial/District/City DPRD Leaders to Support the Asta Cita Towards Golden Indonesia 2045”. “This KPPD has been running for five days, Mr. President, from 15 April to tomorrow, 19 April 2026, at the Tidar Valley of the Military Academy in Magelang, where national leaders are forged and tempered, attended by 503 DPRD chairmen,” Ace said in his report. Subsequently, Lemhannas also presented a video documentation of the KPPD activities, showing learning sessions, leadership development, and the dynamics of interactions among participants during the retreat.
