Prabowo Expands Taruna Nusantara Schools and Makes Tuition Free
Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto has introduced free education for all students at SMA Taruna Nusantara in an effort to widen access to quality schooling.
The policy is being implemented alongside the development of five new campuses in various parts of Indonesia during the first two years of his administration.
According to an official statement from the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Friday, waiving tuition fees means that all SMA Taruna Nusantara students can study without paying school fees.
The policy is part of the government’s efforts to give more Indonesian children the opportunity to receive a quality education.
Alongside making education free, the government is accelerating the development of SMA Taruna Nusantara by building new campuses. Prabowo said the educational institution had grown significantly since it was first established in 1990.
When it was founded, SMA Taruna Nusantara had just one campus. Since then, the school has produced many young figures who have contributed to the country.
During President Prabowo’s first two years in office, the development of SMA Taruna Nusantara has continued to accelerate, with five new campuses being built in various parts of Indonesia.
The move is part of the government’s efforts to broaden equal access to education while improving the quality of the country’s human resources.
The inauguration of SMA Taruna Nusantara’s Cimahi campus in the city of Cimahi, West Java, on Friday marked a continuation of the development programme. Several months earlier, Prabowo had also inaugurated the school’s campus in Malang, East Java.
With this expansion, the SMA Taruna Nusantara network now spans six locations: Magelang in Central Java, Malang in East Java, Cimahi in West Java, Pagar Alam in South Sumatra, the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), and Langowan in North Sulawesi.
The campus expansion and tuition waiver are expected to strengthen SMA Taruna Nusantara’s role in educating young people who excel academically, demonstrate integrity and have a strong sense of patriotism.
Through the policy, the government is treating human-resource development as a key foundation for the country’s progress.
