Prabowo exchanges ideas with three former Thai PMs at Wisma Danantara

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto exchanged views with three former Thai Prime Ministers at Wisma Danantara in Jakarta on Thursday.

The three were Thai PM from 2001-2006 Thaksin Shinawatra, Thai PM from 2011-2014 Yingluck Shinawatra, and Thai PM from 2024-2025 Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday evening that the meeting was also attended by Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, CIO Pandu Sjahrir, and COO Dony Oskaria.

“The meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the long-standing close friendship between the two sides,” said Teddy, describing the encounter between President Prabowo and the three leading figures of the Shinawatra family.

The meeting was held in a long-table format, with President Prabowo seated flanked by Danantara’s senior officials, while the three former Thai premiers sat opposite him.

“Thaksin Shinawatra, who currently serves as a member of Danantara’s Advisory Council, offered a number of suggestions and exchanged views with President Prabowo and Danantara’s leadership on various opportunities to strengthen investment, asset management strategies, and the development of a national economy oriented towards long-term growth,” said Teddy.

Teddy added that the meeting reflected the Indonesian government’s continued efforts to strengthen its network of friendships with world leaders and figures through close communication.

“Through close communication with world leaders and figures, the Indonesian government continues to strengthen its friendship networks while opening space for the exchange of ideas and experiences, as part of efforts to expand international cooperation and reinforce Indonesia’s position amid evolving global dynamics,” he said.

Prior to Thursday’s meeting at Wisma Danantara, President Prabowo received Thaksin, Yingluck, and Paetongtarn at his private residence on Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta, on Wednesday evening (8/7).

Thaksin is a former Thai PM who was quite popular for his people-oriented leadership style during his time in office. Meanwhile, Yingluck, Thaksin’s younger sister, was Thailand’s first female prime minister.

Paetongtarn, Thaksin’s youngest daughter, also made history as Thailand’s youngest prime minister.
