Prabowo: Every Party Has Many Patriots, and Many Scoundrels Too

President Prabowo Subianto has assessed that political parties today are not solely filled with patriots. According to him, parties also contain many scoundrels who often trigger disputes.

The statement was made by Prabowo whilst attending the peak commemoration of the 79th National Cooperatives Day at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday (12/7/2026).

On that occasion, Prabowo urged all parties to cease their infighting, arguing that no success can be achieved through conflict.

“Why should we quarrel? We are one family. Whatever our background, whatever our ethnicity, whatever our party. Every party has many patriots, and every party also has many scoundrels,” Prabowo said.

After uttering the word ‘scoundrel’, he immediately turned to ask Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti, who was also in attendance, about the remark, as such language is unusual for a president to use.
