Prabowo: Every Dispute Must Be Resolved Peacefully Through Diplomacy

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that every dispute in any region must be resolved peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy. He made the remarks during a press statement following a meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday, 6 July 2026. “We affirm that ASEAN believes every dispute must be resolved peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy, not only in our region but in all regions,” Prabowo said. Prabowo explained that during the meeting, he and Wong also discussed various global and regional issues and their impact on the lives of both nations. He noted that the discussions would serve as a foundation for facing future challenges and partnerships. “Our discussions today are not merely a response to current challenges, but also prepare our partnership for the future,” Prabowo stated. He expressed hope that relations between Indonesia and Singapore would continue to endure. “Next year we will commemorate 60 years of Indonesia–Singapore diplomatic relations, and we see that this relationship must remain lasting in the years to come,” he concluded.
