Prabowo Establishes PHK Mitigation Task Force: We Defend and Protect Workers

President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that the government has enacted Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 10 of 2026 on the Establishment of the Task Force (Satgas) for Mitigating Termination of Employment (PHK). According to the President, this policy represents a tangible manifestation of the government’s ongoing commitment to protecting workers.

Prabowo made this statement during the 2026 International Labour Day or May Day commemoration at the National Monument (Monas) on Friday, 1 May 2026.

“Do not worry, we will defend the interests of workers. For those threatened with PHK, we will defend and protect you all,” said Prabowo.

The Head of State also stressed that the government will always ensure workers remain protected in any circumstances. In his view, the state will continue to be present to guarantee their welfare.

“If there are entrepreneurs who give up, do not worry, our state is strong. Our state will take over, our state will defend the Indonesian people, do not worry,” he stated.

In line with this, Prabowo also conveyed that the government will strengthen social protection for low-income citizens. This policy forms part of the government’s comprehensive efforts to safeguard and protect society.

“We are also providing very substantial social protection. This year, we are providing protection for low-income citizens amounting to Rp500 trillion,” he revealed.

President Prabowo stated that he always instructs his entire apparatus to adopt policies that benefit the people. This step simultaneously reaffirms the government’s alignment with society.

“I give instructions. Brothers and sisters, the ministers, when taking policies, when formulating policies, think, ask whether this benefits the small people or not. If it benefits the small people, implement it, that is correct, no need to hesitate,” he asserted firmly.

The establishment of the PHK Mitigation Task Force on this International Labour Day serves as a symbol of the government’s strong commitment: the state is present not only when the economy is growing, but also when the people face pressures, protecting, defending, and ensuring no worker is left to fall alone.
